The DiMage

The DiMage sat, illuminated by the golden glow of her magical tome, and whispered to her cat, who watched the mouse as it moved about with deliberation, neither the captive nor the prey.

"If I cast my runes thus! Into the box... Yesss! Here, here, here and here! Here are the ingredients that I need to brew my potion. Here I will cast my greatest spell!"
Once she had gathered her ingredients the witch summoned forth her alembic and began to prepare them, synthesizing multiplying and refining them until they were in their purest form and ready for use.

"Now is the time my dear, now is the time!" The cat nuzzle her face as the witch spoke and felt a firm pressure returned for his attentions. "My cauldron awaits!"

Placing the potions carefully into the vessel she worked with skill and some exasperation on each addition tweaking the subtle nuances and tones until a harmony was gained and then the next ingredient would be poured in and adjustments would begin again in earnest and so the work continued for many days.

Sometimes she would giggle with joy and other times she would shriek with rage, throwing down her tools and storming away, but always the cauldron would draw her back with whispers of glory, and so she would continue balancing and adjusting sometimes with small flicks and sometimes with great flourishes her wand would flash adding its own magic to the brew.

"Finally, finally!" The DiMage sat before her creation. "I can do no greater than this my pet. I shall cast my spell and we will see... we will see!"
The spell was cast and many who witnessed it became transfixed... spellbound such was its power. But there were others who had not been affected and there were those DiMages who made criticism and fun at her feeble attempts.

"I will show them, I'll show them! I may be a novice in their eyes but one day I will be the greatest among them. One day I will be the very best"
She sat that night for a time in quiet contemplation, browsing through her magical book until the inspiration hit her once again. She had found the very thing and now she had learned a new method.

"This will do it! This will be my crowning glory they'll have to acknowledge me after this one. Come on! We have work to do!"
